FAQs
What is an audiologist?
An audiologist is a provider who usually holds a doctorate (AuD) and diagnoses and treats hearing and balance disorders. They must be licensed to practice audiology in each state and must obtain continuing education to stay updated on the latest hearing and balance care. Audiologists treat hearing loss of all kinds, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), auditory processing disorders, imbalance and vertigo. They commonly work in private practice, or alongside medical physicians due to comorbidities with ear disease, cognitive function, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being.
What is the difference between an audiologist and a hearing instrument specialist or hearing aid dealer?
